Norfolk, VA - On Tuesday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m., members and supporters of New Virginia Majority (NVM) will hold an Easter egg hunt in front of City Hall, and look for $5 million dollars to be used from ARPA funding to fix the decrepit conditions of public housing in the St. Paul’s neighborhood. 

NVM is asking for $5m to be set aside for public housing repairs. Rather than using money in wealthy areas in the city, the city should make targeted investments in communities that have directly been impacted by the pandemic. 

“Norfolk’s city manager, Chip Filer, seems to believe that ignoring the needs of the residents of St. Paul’s will make them insignificant. But he’s wrong. The people in this community have value and deserve to live with dignity. Today, instead of hunting for Easter eggs, we are hunting for $5,000,000 in ARPA funding that these residents deserve,” said Monet Johnson, an NVM organizer.
