Sakina Bennett is the political director at New Virginia Majority. Sakina has served as a key leader in driving NVM's vision for community engagement by serving as the lead strategist for voter registration, voter contact, and restoration of rights statewide mobilizations
She first joined New Virginia Majority in 2016 where she began organizing to expand access to voting options in Northern Virginia. Since then, Sakina has spent time at New Virginia Majority helping to support the political department both at the regional and the statewide level.
Sakina has worked to support strong teams who can go out and engage their communities and is passionate about helping communities of color participate in democracy.
Prior to her work at NVM, Sakina, a native midwesterner, served as an organizer on key political campaigns up and down the ballot.
Sakina is a proud graduate of Hampton University.
